What is this?
This is an English summary of my privacy policy. Here I will explain to you, briefly and in plain language, what happens to your personal information, such as your name and email address, when you surf my website.
Why is my privacy policy in German so much longer?
Because my business is based in Germany, my website is subject to the requirements of the new General Data Protection Regulation that came into force on May 25, 2018.
This means that I am required by law to provide extensive information on every possible scenario in which your personal data might be used as a consequence of visiting my website.
My privacy policy in German is so much longer because it is written to comply with the law and prevent any possible fine.
Because it is long, boring, and written in legal jargon, I have decided to produce a summary in English for all those who want to know what I do with your data, but do not have the time and patience to read it all.
How I deal with your personal data, in short.
I respect your privacy.
Visiting my website will not result in me collecting any more information about you than is strictly necessary for the functioning of the website itself.
If you send me a message, be it in the form of an email, via WhatsApp, or though the contact form, I will save your contact information in order to be able to communicate with you regarding the services that you requested.
You may, at any time, request a copy of your personal data that I collected or ask me to delete or correct the information I hold. I will process your request as soon as I can.
Who is responsible for the collection of your personal data.
Claudia Letizia
Marschallstr. 8

Claudia Letizia is a professional, multilingual translator based in Germany. She heads a small team of translators that operates under the brand name “Slow Translation” to provide translations from and into English, Italian, German, and French.
Why do I process your personal data?
I collect, store and use your personal data for the following purposes:
- to issue quotes and invoices,
- to provide a service that you have requested,
- or to comply with legal requirements, like for example when I file my taxes.
Personal data collected may include your name, postal address, email address, telephone number and VAT number. Personal data may also include banking details or information on documents that you sent me to be translated, edited, or proofread. All data is processed on password-protected computers and is not accessible by third parties.
I do not use your personal data for marketing purposes, nor do I disclose it to unauthorised third parties.
Legal Grounds
The legal basis for processing your data is to perform the translation, editing, or proofreading services you request or to take necessary steps prior to fulfilling that request.
Who else may have access to your personal data?
For administrative purposes, other parties, including the providers of my website and email hosting services, may have access to your personal data. All these parties are also compliant with the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
How long do I keep your personal data?
I will keep your personal data for at least 2 years unless you ask me to delete it or remove it sooner. Should you ask me to delete your files before the 2-year period has expired, I cannot be held responsible for queries or claims relating to their content, as I have no way of verifying the accuracy of the original content.
Your right to lodge a complaint
If you have any concerns about how I process your personal data, please contact me. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority in Germany.
